This page walks through the Dummy Data Configuration screen where you set up all parameters for data generation.
Accessing the Configuration
- From the landing page, click Generate → in the Generate Dummy Data section.
- The Dummy Data Configuration page will appear.
Connection Settings
Configure the Dataverse environment that will receive the generated data:
Dataverse Connection: Select an existing Dataverse connection from the dropdown. Click Refresh to reload the list if needed.
Record Owner: Optionally select a user who will own the created records. Click Load Users to populate the list from your Dataverse environment.
💡 Note: You must have a saved Dataverse connection before generating dummy data. If you need to add a new connection, use the Manage Connections option from the landing page. See Section 5: Application Reference for details.
Data Generation Settings
Configure how the data will be generated:
Data Prefix: (Optional) A prefix added to generated record names, making them easy to identify. Example: "Demo" would create records like "Demo - Contoso Ltd".
Country/Region: Select the country for localized data. Options: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France.
Date Range for Records: Set the From and To dates for any date fields in generated records (e.g., opportunity close dates, case created dates, record Created On dates).
Bypass custom plugins and workflows: When enabled (recommended), data is created without triggering custom business logic. This significantly improves performance. Disable only if you specifically need to test plugins or workflows.
✓ Recommended: Keep "Bypass custom plugins and workflows" enabled for faster data generation. Only disable it if you need to test how your business logic responds to new records.
Select Entities and Record Counts
Choose which entity types to generate and specify the number of records for each:
Sales Entities:
• Accounts — Enter the number of company records to create
• Contacts — Enter the number of contact records (linked to accounts)
• Leads — Enter the number of lead records
• Opportunities — Enter the number of opportunity records (linked to accounts)
Service & Activity Entities:
• Cases — Enter the number of service case records
The Total Records to Generate counter at the bottom shows the sum of all selected entities.
Performance Settings
You can optionally adjust performance settings, but we recommend leaving the default "Rate Safe" configuration for reliable operation.
💡 Tip: See Section 5, Page 2: Performance Settings Page for detailed information about available performance options and when to change them.
Starting Generation
Once you've configured all settings:
- Review your selections and the total record count.
- Click Generate Data to proceed.
- A confirmation dialog will appear before records are created.
