The first step in the sync wizard is configuring your Dataverse connection. You can select a previously saved connection or enter new connection details.
Accessing Step 1
1. From the landing page, click Start Sync → in the Sync Dataverse Tables section.
2. The Step 1: Dataverse Connection page will appear.
Using a Saved Connection
If you've previously saved a Dataverse connection:
- Click the Saved Dataverse Connections dropdown.
- If none of your saved connections appear, Refresh saved connections first.
- Select your saved connection from the list.
- The connection fields will auto-populate with the saved values.
- Click Test to verify the connection is still valid.
- Click Next → to proceed to Step 2.
Creating a New Connection
To configure a new Dataverse connection, enter the following details:
Connection Name: A friendly name to identify this connection (e.g., "Production CRM")
Environment URL: Your Dataverse environment URL (e.g., https://yourorg.crm.dynamics.com)
Tenant ID (Directory ID): The Directory (tenant) ID from your App Registration
Client ID (Application ID): The Application (client) ID from your App Registration
Client Secret: The secret value from your App Registration
💡 Tip: All fields must show green checkmarks to indicate valid input before you can proceed. The validation message at the bottom of the page will guide you.
Testing the Connection
Before proceeding, always test your connection:
- Click the Test button (blue button next to the dropdown).
- Wait for the connection test to complete.
- A success or failure message will appear.
- If entering in net new connection information, click “Save Connection” to store this connection for future use.
✓ Success: Click Next → to proceed to Step 2.
✗ Failed: Verify your credentials, check that the Application User exists in Dataverse, and ensure network connectivity. See Section 6: Troubleshooting for help.
